YOGA
The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root "yuj" meaning union or integration. It is the union of our body, mind and soul. Our lives and minds often feel rushed and fragmented. Ultimately, yoga gives us the tools to move towards greater integration and wholeness in our lives. Through the practice of asanas (postures) pranayama (expansion and control of breath) and contemplation, we begin to feel more alive in body, mind and soul, we start to think more clearly and deepen our understanding of ourselves and our relationship to others.
The practice of yoga can benefit all ages and all body types. It is not necessary to be "flexible" to practice yoga. We gain flexibility in our body and our mind through the practice of yoga by observing our experiences without self-judgement. The only requirement in the practice of yoga is you and your unconditional awareness.

ABOUT TANIA
I began my study of yoga in 1991 and felt an immediate connection to the practice. In January of 1999, I went to India for teacher's training at Nitya Sadhana Kudir in Kerala. Since this time I have taught yoga at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Toronto Board of Education Night School and After School Program, Toronto Parks and Recreation and in various Toronto studios. My Elora studio opened in September 2002 when we moved from Toronto. In November 2003, I received my second certification with the Federation of Ontario Yoga Teachers. I continue to explore yoga through personal practice, workshops, independent research and through retreat periods at Yogashrams.
